Working under the Construction Industry Scheme can involve deductions from your payments, additional records and reporting responsibilities. KC Accountants helps subcontractors and contractors understand their position and keep their tax affairs organised.
We can help you bring together your income, CIS deductions and business expenses to prepare your accounts and tax return.
• Reviewing payment and deduction statements
• Reconciling income and deductions against your records
• Reviewing relevant business expenses
• Preparing accounts and the appropriate tax return
• Calculating your overall tax position
• Checking whether you have overpaid tax
• Explaining any balance payable or repayment due
CIS deductions are payments towards your tax position. They do not automatically mean you will receive a refund.
If your business pays subcontractors, we can help with the administration covered by your agreed service.
This may include subcontractor verification, reviewing deduction calculations, preparing monthly CIS returns and issuing payment and deduction statements.
If your business operates as a limited company, we can also discuss the treatment of CIS deductions suffered by the company.
We first establish whether you need subcontractor support, contractor support or both. We review your records, agree the scope and fee, then prepare the relevant calculations and submissions.
We raise any missing information with you and explain the results before completing the agreed work.
Your UTR, CIS statements, invoices, bank records, expense receipts and any employment income documents. Contractors may also need to provide subcontractor details and payment records.
We quote according to your business structure, records and reporting requirements. Contractor administration and an individual subcontractor’s annual tax return involve different work and are priced accordingly.
Am I guaranteed a refund?
No. The outcome depends on your income, allowable expenses, deductions and overall tax position.
What if I am missing deduction statements?
Tell us which periods are missing. We can explain what records to request and review the information available.
How long will a refund take?
HMRC processing times vary and checks can delay payment. We cannot guarantee a payment date.
Can you help if I also have employment income?
Yes. We can consider this alongside your construction income when preparing your personal return.
