Between shifts, changing placements and private work, keeping track of your finances can become another task on an already full schedule.
KC Accountants helps healthcare professionals bring their income together, understand their tax position and manage their accounting responsibilities. Whether you need a personal tax return or ongoing support for your business, we agree the service and fees before starting.
We support:
You may arrange shifts directly with NHS trusts, through NHS Professionals or Doctors Direct, or through agencies such as Medacs Healthcare. We look at your actual working and payment arrangements, rather than assuming every locum is self employed.
A main salary, bank shifts and occasional private work can mean several sets of records. Changing employers or working through different agencies can also leave you unsure whether the tax deducted reflects your overall income.
We review the relevant records together, explain anything that needs attention and help you understand what you owe or whether you may have overpaid.
Where appropriate, we also review professional subscriptions, registration fees and other work related costs to identify eligible claims. Any claim depends on your circumstances and how you work.
Personal tax returns
Preparation and submission of your Self Assessment return, where required, covering your relevant sources of income.
PAYE and tax code reviews
Help understanding deductions across different jobs and identifying discrepancies that may need correcting.
Private work and business accounts
Bookkeeping and accounts support for income earned outside your employed roles.
Limited company accounting
Annual accounts, Corporation Tax returns and payroll services, with the package agreed around your needs.
Clear explanations
A practical explanation of your figures, filing responsibilities and payment deadlines, without unnecessary jargon.
An accountant you can fit around your working life
Our offices in Whitechapel, London and Edgbaston, Birmingham serve healthcare professionals across both cities and neighbouring areas.
We also provide remote support throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. You can share records digitally and arrange a conversation without needing to visit an office each time you change placement or take on a new role.
I already pay tax through my salary. Can you still help?
Yes. We can review your position, particularly where you have several jobs, additional income or concerns about your tax code. Being employed does not automatically mean you need a tax return.
Does locum work mean I am self employed?
Not necessarily. Locum work can involve different arrangements, including PAYE employment. We review how you work and receive payment before advising on the accounting support you need.
Could I be due a tax refund?
Possibly, if you have overpaid tax or have eligible claims that have not been accounted for. We review your circumstances first. A refund is not guaranteed.
Can you help with NHS employment and private income together?
Yes. We can review both as part of understanding your overall tax position and preparing any required return.
Do I need to set up a limited company?
Not automatically. We can discuss whether a company is appropriate for your circumstances, taking account of your working arrangements and the additional responsibilities involved.
Tell us about your role and how you receive your income. We’ll explain the support available and provide a clear quote.
